Egad – Sun Acquires MySQL

MySQL, the database server all of us use when we blog, whether with WordPress or Drupal or whatever, has been acquired by Sun. Also ominous sounding is the fact that they want to accelerate their development for the benefit of MySQL users on the Solaris platform. I wonder if this will spell a decline in MySQL support for Linux and the BSDs, which again, most of us use.

Maybe I’m a pessimist, but it doesn’t look too good at this point in time. But I guess only time will tell.
