Obfuscation as a Fine Art: More Microsoftspeak

It looks like Microsoft is at it again. This time, instead of saying “Microsoft SQL Server 2008 will be delayed”, they have issued a horrifically long press release, which they call a roadmap clarification (ha!), that never quite manages to get to the point. The closest they could bring themselves to say it was with the incomprehensible sentence,

“Microsoft is excited to deliver a feature complete CTP during the Heroes Happen Here launch wave and a release candidate (RC) in Q2 calendar year 2008, with final Release to manufacturing (RTM) of SQL Server 2008 expected in Q3.”

Yeah, right: “feature complete CTP during the Heroes Happen Here launch wave”.

Instead of despinning it like I did before with their IE doubletalk, I’ll leave you with a parody as a means of understanding the press release.

Microsoft is not the only one to do this kind of thing. It looks like the web hosting industry also has its own doubletalk. And then, of course, there are the politicians. But we all know that only too well.
