Another cover-up, at the customer’s expense. Best Buy lost a customer’s laptop, but gave her the run-around for about 3 months, telling her that the laptop was somewhere else for repairs or that a certain part had to be ordered. All that time, it knew that it had lost the laptop. When she finally found out the truth, and confronted them, they offered her a miserly $900, which could not even cover the cost of her laptop+warranty of $1,100, let alone the lost data and time consumed pursuing the matter.
Because of her data loss, she now has to monitor all her bank accounts (etc) for suspicious activity, adding to her costs.
She’s now suing them for (ahem) $54 million. Let’s hope she wins a huge amount, even if not the $54 million.
